The Pennsylvania Center strives to create a generation of Americans politically and socially aware and active. The chief objective of the Center's Mission Statement is bring the neighborhoods and communities of Pennsylvania together through local and grassroots initiatives. Such efforts would assist the men, women and children of our city to immerse themselves in culture, in educational programs, and in other community events.
The Pennsylvania Center intends to aid, foster and nurture the many and diverse talents of the people of the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area so that those talents can be shared and appreciated to their fullest. Art grants will be instituted to promote the arts in all its forms. Founded to establish and develop civic engagement among the citizenry and to promote and encourage political activism in the political processes on the local, state and federal levels. The Pennsylvania Center was also founded to instill community action in response to the issues that affect our everyday lives through education, raising awareness and grassroots efforts. The Center stresses public scholarship on the issues in order to better educate the people we serve on the many diverse issues in the political and social landscapes.
The Pennsylvania Center seeks to raise awareness on public policy issues that affect the citizens on the local, state and federal levels. In addition, the Center strives to foster local community interaction as the communities we live in possess the most impact on our daily lives. Through the work of our various departments within the Center, the diverse needs of the community can be properly researched and expounded upon. Furthermore, policy proposals and civic action can then take place through the resulting research and our grassroots methodology.
The Center for Civic & Community Engagement is comprised of five departments; the Department of Civic Responsibility & Engagement, the Department of Community Awareness, the Department of Public Research, the Department of Policy Impact and the Department of Community & Organizational Services, which alongside the Office for Planned Giving & Gifts, strive tirelessly to deliver the Center's mission to the communities we serve.
